Is a Megan’s Law for demagogues needed to protect our children? After all, demagogues present a well-researched and irrefutable danger to adults, let alone kids.
Since finding these rabble rousers is easy enough, the main issue is the buffer between children and demagogues. Some propose a minimum of one mile. Seeing their devastating effect on mankind throughout history, the more educated differ, and suggest a buffer of at least two galaxies or one alternate dimension.
Dehumanization 101: Louis Ramirez Murdered for Looking Illegal
Keep in mind this happened here in the United States, in Shenandoah, PA, 2009 AD. Ramirez was not an illegal immigrant. He was a Mexican immigrant legally residing here.
Imagine the online listing for, say, Glenn Beck. What would it say?
GLENN BECK
Threat to Children: CRITICAL
As a master of race hysteria campaigns, of wing-nut smear campaigns designed to “divide and conquer” the electorate, Glenn Beck consistently foments the potentially fatal dehumanization of ethnic or minority children via broadcast medium.
By encouraging the hatred of immigrant or Muslim parents in an environment where peaceful resolution of imagined grievances becomes impossible, Beck immediately puts innocent children in harm’s way.
In his element, subject’s issues focus on false “white victimization” themes designed to inhibit rational thought and to appeal to primal impulses that favor the actual oppressor. Fear of job loss, terrorism or simply of the unknown, for example, are exploited in heavy rotation and the so-called “oppressor” is often a dehumanized immigrant or Muslim worse off than any of us are.
Threats against Muslims were to “defend America”“I’m going to cut you and your baby with this knife.”
Speaking of Selling HateGlenn Beck threatens Muslims; warns of their fate if they don’t “line up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head” circa August 10, 2006

That pretty much sums him up. But is there evidence his type of hate-mongering can be traced to specific acts of violence? The answer is a sobering and resounding yes. (see inset)
If Beck’s accusations against immigrants, blacks, and Muslims are false, it is not in his interest to encourage honest dialogue and scrutiny, lest he be exposed for disseminating blood libel. Like Sean Hannity or Bill O’Reilly, he fears scrutiny. In fact, it’s safe to say he hates it almost as much as he hates his own life. It doesn’t take a hero to throw stones at a scapegoat, and deep inside him, he must know that.
Like O’Reilly and Hannity, he only has guests who agree with him. This amounts to the polemic equivalent of two men jerking off each other on prime time television. That anyone would watch this garbage is a surprise, but then again, the FOX target demo never fails to surprise. Witness Eric Gardner..
Blood Libel
Media Matters compiled the following quotes, threats, and outright blood libel from Beck:
“I’ve got a quick message for illegal aliens if you happen to be watching. You better start packing your bags. And to the politicians in Washington who are soft on illegal immigration, start packing up your office, because when the terrorists strike, which they will, and we find out that they’re here illegally from some other country, we will be telling all of you to get the hell out.” — Glenn Beck, May 9, 2007
“America’s border crisis. Rape, drugs, kidnapping, even murder. It is beginning to look a lot more like a border war.” — Glenn Beck, November 8, 2007
“It’s time we wake up in this country. We are dealing with an illegal alien crime wave, and drug smuggling is just the beginning.” — Glenn Beck, January 12, 2007
“Earlier this week, I told you about the five-part plan that I believe may lead to the end of the West as we know it. I called it my ‘Perfect Storm.’ One of the elements of that perfect storm is illegal immigration. It is still a great way for terrorists to come here and mess with us. But even if that doesn’t happen — at the very least, illegal immigrants are attacking our culture, and our way of life. They are not melting into our melting pot. They’re here for the cash.” — Glenn Beck, August 4, 2006
“So, welcome to Cinco de Flag amusement park. So, bienvenidos a Cinco de Flag amusement
park. Come see our new line-up of thrill rides, like the biggest rollercoaster in Me-hee-ho, El Nino. Standing a whopping 32 feet tall, it drops an amazing 10 feet in 15seconds! Run for the border in the terrifying tractor-trailer run. We simulate an 18-wheeler full of illegal immigrants trying to cross the border when the IN breaks in. See if you can make it!”– Mock commercial, The Glenn Beck Program, May 5, 2006
“I also know our country is on fire, and the fuel is illegal immigration. There are about 12 to 15 million illegals in this country, and that number is growing by 500,000 every year. Recent investigations showed that in Los Angeles 95 percent of all warrants for homicide targeted illegal aliens. They put a strain on our Social Security, our education, our health care and, yes, national security.” — Glenn Beck, January 30, 2007
“Somebody comes across the border in the middle of the night, why are they doing
that? Really, three reasons: One, they’re terrorists; two, they’re escaping the law;or three, they’re hungry. They can’t make a living in their own dirtbagcountry.”– The Glenn Beck Program, April 27, 2006
Clearly, the dehumanization of the undocumented has the immediate effect of bringing animosity and suspicion on anyone who even looks “illegal” and what happened to Louis Ramirez is not an isolated incident, it is a perfect case in point. And it could have been anyone brown.
For the prosecution to have waged a successful murder trial with an unbiased jury, they would have to exclude jurors that have watched Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, and cable news in general. Since this is virtually impossible, the likelihood that other juries might come to similar verdicts in the future in like murders of Latinos, regardless of citizenship status, is extremely high.
