So, for someone like Marissa Johnson or Ijeoma Oluo to take credit for the Black Lives Matter movement is like someone claiming the rights to the rallying cry “No Justice, No Peace” or “Give Peace a Chance.”
In the 60s, in the Civil Rights marches, they did have leaders and the marches were carefully planned. They had a spokesman and a media liaison. There was a structure.
Even so, when the peace rallies came, as we saw when COINTEL came to light, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover managed to end those marches by planting operatives that would turn peaceful marches into violent ones. Planted black marchers would, for instance, destroy property and throw trash cans through the windows of local businesses. Martin Luther King, Jr. would get the the blame so in the end, the marches stopped rather than risk discrediting the entire Civil Rights movement by association. They were infiltrated, and the SPLC knew it.NYPD, MTA used undercover officers to monitor Black Lives Matters protesters: report[/pullquote]Imagine a situation where there is no elected or appointed leader, and no official media liaison, a movement where any idiot can jump on a stage and claim to be a member, or even authority figure, in an organic, decentralized and leaderless movement she has nothing to do with. BLM protesters are in Ferguson and flocking there right now, not disrupting progressive political rallies and alienating powerful allies. The latter are destroying a movement in a manner no different, or less damaging, than the selfish, short-sighted cretins in the 60s that partnered with Hoover’s FBI and did everything they could to discredit Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement.
The way the media covers it today, I could go to the funeral of the next shooting victim and protest into a family member’s ear that she didn’t do enough to end racism. “Black Lives Matter! This is your fault! You had all your life to change the system! J’accuse!” The only thing the media would remember about behavior this ridiculous and offensive was that it was someone who claimed to speak for all of Black Lives Matter, and because there is no leadership structure, there would be no one to challenge the false assertion. The only thing we can do, and that is what we are asking with a special sense of urgency, is that anyone who does believe in solidarity must immediately reject, with extreme prejudice, the selfish, destructive and absurd actions of Ijeoma Oluo, Marissa Johnson, and anyone else who is using this crisis as a political and racial wedge.
Hillary is counting on black voters and the last thing she wants right now is Bernie Sanders siphoning them off in primaries. They are prepared to destroy the Black Lives Matter movement in this gambit to split the black vote against Sanders. No one gains from this nonsense. Not #BlackLivesMatter, not progressives, not the middle class or poor, not Sanders, not solidarity, but Hillary and Wall Street gain tremendously.
It is inexcusable and repugnant that they would use the death of Michael Brown to boost a candidate’s flagging prospects, but rest assured it is happening. Seriously, what is Sanders supposed to do and how in the fuck was he responsible for any of what happened in Ferguson? Is he supposed to send troops to Ferguson? Enact an Executive Order? He’s not president yet, and they seem hell bent on blaming Sen. Sanders and Hillary’s rival candidates for Michael Brown’s death.[pullquote]“The amount of security that [Clinton] has at her events makes her much less accessible…” But isn’t that an even greater cause for indignation? The very fact they know it’s futile to seek an audience with Hillary speaks volumes.[/pullquote]It appears the most dangerous place on earth is between Marissa Johnson and a camera, and these dipshits have become the de facto face of a noble cause. Now it appears ignoble to many who were once sympathetic, it seems as if it is being run by hysterical, amateurish fuckwits ready to lash out at powerful allies and shamelessly cower from the people they should be confronting.
One of them said so herself: “The amount of security that [Clinton] has at her events makes her much less accessible…” But isn’t that an even greater cause for indignation? The very fact they know it’s futile to seek an audience with Hillary speaks volumes. They may not be able to jump on stage and interrupt her speech like they do with Sanders and others, but they can still protest. They can force her to address the issue publicly. They haven’t. Let me venture a guess as to why: they work for her.
Hillary has not been interrupted by these moronic pseudo-activists. One would expect she might:
- She opposed the Civil Rights Act.
- Her “tough on crime” husband was instrumental in creating the prison industrial complex that we have right now, which largely targets blacks, as well as being responsible for creating the first “Drug Czar” to implement our disastrous war on drugs that targets blacks. This is relevant because…
- Major contributors to her campaign are private prison contractors and bundlers from the CCA, or Corrections Corporation of America, that literally make more money the longer a person stays in prison, so they lobby for longer mandatory sentencing and were a key part of making “driving while black” the nightmarish reality that it is. In Arizona, in fact, they coordinated raids with local law enforcement targeting high school kids.
Don’t expect much help from Hillary Clinton, if any lives matter to you.
Bernie marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. He is the only true progressive out there now. He voted for the Civil Rights Act and had a real history of activism.
But what remains saddest of all, is just how these political plants can so obscenely profit from the death of a young man they claim to represent. For the sake of the movement, every effort should be made to distance Black Lives Matter from pseudo-activist Ijeoma Oluo, Marissa Johnson, and any other Team Hillary stooge hungry to exploit the tragic murder of a young man for political gain.
It goes without saying that they have no plans to disrupt any Republican events.
Hilary wasn’t disrupted at an appearance or had one shut down, but she finally did meet with BLM on August 11, 2015.
