The Nag Hammadi library is among other things, an important account of what happened with Jesus Christ after his death, and an account of the teachings He left thereafter. The library includes the Corpus Hermeticum, the wisdom of Hermes, and Plato’s The Replublic. In 1945, twelve leather-bound papyrus codices buried in a sealed jar were found by a local peasant named Mohammed Ali. The writings in these codices comprised fifty-two mostly Gnostic tractates (treatises). […]
In this Book, though so very old, is contained more true knowledge of God and Nature, than in all the Books in the World besides, except only Sacred Writ; And they that shall judiciously read it, and rightly understand it, may well be excused from reading many Books; the Authors of which, pretend so much to the knowledge of the Creator, and Creation. If God ever appeared in any man, he appeared in him, as it appears by this Book. […]
Such are what at first sight may appear to be the comparatively scanty remains of what was once an exceedingly abundant literature. But when we remember that this literature was largely reserved and kept secret, we cannot but congratulate ourselves that so much has been preserved; indeed, as we shall see later on, but for the lucky chance of a Hermetic apologist selecting some of the sermons to exemplify the loyal nature of the Trismegistic teaching with respect to kings and rulers, we should be without any Hermetic Corpus at all, and dependent solely on our extracts and fragments. […]
When then the mind doth free itself from the earth−body, it straightway putteth on its proper robe of fire, with which it could not dwell in an earth−body. For earth doth not bear fire; for it is all set in a blaze even by a small spark. And for this cause is water poured around earth, to be a guard and wall, to keep the blazing of the fire away. But mind, the swiftest thing of all divine outthinkings, and swifter than all elements, hath for its body fire. […]
“Keep thou not silent when evil is spoken for Truth like the sunlight shines above all. He who over-steppeth the Law shall be punished, for only through Law comes the freedom of men. Follow thine heart during thy lifetime. Do thou more than is commanded of thee. When thou has gained riches, follow thou thine heart, for all these are of no avail if thine heart be weary. Diminish thou not the time of following thine heart. It is abhorred of the soul. They that are guided go not astray, but they that are lost cannot find a straight path. If thou go among men, make for thyself, Love, the beginning and end of the heart.” […]
There is something quite remarkable about this work. It was said to have been written around the time of Abraham, yet the teachings therein contain the fundamentals of quantum physics, quantum entanglement, the true nature of matter, consciousness, and more. It was only recently that this has been scientifically quantified, and only in the last decade that a new scientific field has emerged to postulate what the ancients had taught all along: consciousness, ours and the collective, is the key to the universe. […]
