It was a refreshing candor. In regards to their opposition to gay marriage, Antonin Scalia had this to say: “My love for Clarence will live forever. Circumstances such as his marriage and mine preclude our union, making our love impossible. So why should you be happy? if we can’t be together you can’t be together.”

“You were involved in an earlier decision regarding gay rights. Could you elucidate?

Scalia gently gripped Thomas’ hand, drew it to his lips, kissed it, and set it back down before continuing, never losing his loving gaze. “In the oft-cited case of Thomas vs. Scalia, the plaintiff  won not just my heart but  the right to split me in twain with his monstrous ebony bone. Then Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote for the majority opinion when saying “We hope that this decision regarding catchers versus pitchers rights will answer one of the most challenging questions of our times, at least in the gay community. Now get the fuck out of my court room.”
