Pat Buchanan: Slavery “brought blacks freedom and prosperity”

“Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.”

Abraham Lincoln

Pat Buchanan actually said it: slavery “brought blacks freedom and prosperity”: Even after slavery, it took over 100 years to give blacks the “freedom and prosperity” Pat Buchanan described, and it was only after they fought and defeated relentless Jim Crow segregationists like Buchanan himself.

SlaveShipAUDIO: Aboard a Slave Slave Ship from “Eyewitness to History.”

dogattack_civilrights“America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known… No people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.”

Pat Buchanan

The problem with Pat is that even articulate people can be stupid motherfuckers.

UNSUITABLE

In creating Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”, Buchanan allied with, and personified the Klan fronts like the White Citizens Councils which battled tooth and nail to deny blacks their basic civil rights

Ever hungry to find new and exciting ways to embarrass himself, MSNBC regular Pat Buchanan writes that blacks should be thankful for slavery because it introduced our fellow Americans of African ancestry “to Christian salvation” and helped them reach “the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known”. The sheer idiocy of claiming slave ships meant freedom and prosperity for blacks boggles the mind, but not as much as the fact that Buchanan is portrayed on national television not as the crackpot white supremacist he is, but as an intellectual “Christian.”

The only conclusion to draw is that there are powerful forces in the media who tacitly agree with Buchanan’s madness, who believe his myth of white victimization is not the crippling abandonment of self-empowerment and responsibility it really is; but rather an eternal truth. And those in the media who don’t believe him, clearly believe that the myth of white victimization by minorities must be perpetuated to continue manipulating white voters to act against their best interests, leaving them willing to re-think their rejection of crooked politicians for the sake of hate and racial bias. Thus Pat has a forum because, as an old Indian proverb goes “the idiot is always the first to be heard”.

That said, let’s do something Buchanan would never think to do: take a look at life aboard an intercepted Portuguese slave ship. Herein is a reading of Aboard a Slave Ship, 1829. After listening, ask yourself if this was a pleasure cruise, or one of many great injustices that blacks need not be grateful for.

“Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.”

Abraham Lincoln

If you want sobering proof of a sickening, unabashed racism in the mainstream media, you need not look at FOX News alone.

MSNBC has a rabid 60’s segregationist, Pat Buchanan, a “conservative” pundit and author who believes slavery was the best thing to ever happen to blacks. But he is not at all conservative, unless by conservative you mean outright white supremacist. Buchanan is and always was an extremist. In fact, the ties between Buchanan and the Ku Klux Klan are now irrefutable, as Buchanan is indeed a featured writer on Klansman David Duke’s website. Has Buchanan distanced himself from David Duke, the way he said Barack Obama should have distanced himself from his old minister? no. Barack Obama never openly said or agreed with any of the statements made by Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and in fact denounced them, but Buchanan continually insists Obama is playing the race card when he should be grateful for everything the white man has done for him.

Yet, not only does Buchanan echo the words and hateful lies and ideology of the Klan, he shares them to the extent his words are posted on the web site of the most influential Klansman in America. He’s actually letting David Duke use his copyrighted material on his web site. And it’s no wonder. What Buchanan said about blacks benefiting from slavery was and is a position held by the Ku Klux Klan yesterday and today.

So why is Buchanan on television? why does anyone take him seriously, while David Duke is ostracized (and rightfully so)? The main reason is that Duke could not hide his past. Everyone associates him with the Klan, no matter how much he claims to be a former member. His racial beliefs are the same as they were when he was in the Klan, and so is his agenda.

Now, the Klan is a secret society, albeit some members parade about openly to suggest otherwise. The KKK call themselves The Invisible Empire for a reason. Duke claims he is a “former” member of the Klan, but in fact, Klan membership is lifetime for the simple reason that if it were not, if members could come and go as they please, the criminal activity of the Klan could not be kept secret since former members could turn on active members, and destroy the Klan. This hasn’t happened yet because Klan leaders, like the mob, make sure those who join are in for life, and new members are inducted with omerta-like rituals and blood oaths that when violated, are fatal. Sen. Robert Byrd was a Kleagle, a Klan recruiter. For all his ” remorse” and denunciations, ever see him testify against the Klan or its members?

It is allowed, even encouraged, for members to openly deny membership or if discovered, to say the membership was long ago and that they no longer are members. They are allowed to denounce their own to dissimulate, but they are not allowed to testify against them in court, and they are not allowed to share their secrets. The policy of open denunciation and secret membership is critical. They know their racism is no longer mainstream, and that to get elected today they have to pass off as mainstream. Since the ideology and agenda of these Klansmen or sympathizers remain intact, they need a public figure to legitimize the absurd and hateful dogma they propagate, particularly scientific racism and eugenics. That’s where people like Pat come along. Pat is notorious for peddling the eugenics-based argument that America is being dumbed down because there are not enough whites, or because the races have mixed to the point whites will be a minority in the future. You can almost hear the crackling embers of a burning cross, and smell its smoke, as you browse through his blog or scan a few pages of his immigrant-bashing “State of Emergency”.

Slavery had lasted 246 years in America, from 1619 to 1865, well into the end of the Civil War. Even after slavery, it took over 100 years to give blacks the “freedom and prosperity” Pat Buchanan described, and it was only after they fought and defeated relentless Jim Crow segregationists like Buchanan himself. In creating Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”, Buchanan allied with, and personified the Klan fronts like the White Citizens Councils which battled tooth and nail to deny blacks their basic civil rights. His hypocrisy is beyond pathological, and what’s left of that malignant sack of pus he calls a brain is fighting its way out his mouth, with every word, to find a new host to infect. With every reader or viewer that agrees with him, that infection succeeds, finds a host and spreads its hate and intolerance.

Is it not clear Buchanan has devoted his entire life to the perpetuation of the myth of white victimization by a, paradoxically, inferior race? Here is a man that lives in fear of the very boogeyman he created.

I just wish when he was on television, he was pitted against suitable opponents, not just people who simply by sharing a stage with him, legitimize his hate by treating him as anything other than the social leper he clinically is. Pat Buchanan on the The Jerry Springer Show makes sense, that wouldn’t be so bad. There is no pretense of shame or sanity when it comes to guests. Buchanan debating a cross-gender Jewish black man that demands a right to join the Klan, for instance. That would be a good show.

When debate provides a platform for hate and idiocy, silence is victory inasmuch as public disengagement prevents his speaking. Unspeakable, hateful idiocy demands a dignity and attention it does not deserve. And what, you may ask, would be a suitable opponent for Buchanan? A plant, or a brick, or anything that would fall under what Shakespeare might call “worse than senseless things.” Therefore it is no joke to say he’d lose a debate to a plant, a stone, or a paper clip. As insentient objects, they win by default, albeit we’d still have to endure his poorly veiled “white power!” rants.

If from the mouth comes the overflow of the heart, we know Buchanan is sick with hate, and is about as Christian as the man who burns a cross or tortures his brother to honor Jesus.

It’s clear, painfully clear, that Buchanan is no different than David Duke. It’s time to treat them as equals, and demand the media do so also; for by their silence we will know if the true depth of their intolerance truly matches Buchanan and Duke’s own.
